At the completion of this subject students will be able to:

  1. demonstrate knowledge and understanding of strategies for differentiating teaching to meet the specific learning needs of students across the full range of abilities
  2. generate learning goals that provide achievable challenges for students with varying abilities and characteristics
  3. plan the organisation of curriculum content into an effective learning and teaching sequence
  4. design a comprehensive instructional program that integrates the teaching and learning of literacy and numeracy with other curriculum areas.

You must have successfully completed the following subject(s) before starting this subject:

CUR-EDE322-Professional Studies in Supporting Learning Environments with Three to Five Year Olds , or CUR-EDP323-Professional Studies and Evaluating Learning , or CUR-EDE206

Others

Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education) students must have completed both EDE322 and EDE325 prior to enrolling in EDC415.

This subject provides opportunities to consolidate professional knowledge and skills related to curriculum, teaching and assessment. Curriculum integration emphasis multi-subject approaches to teaching in children in school, particularly literacy and numeracy. Curriculum differentiation emphasises adjusting teaching and learning methods to accommodate each child’s individual needs and preferences in order to maximum learning. Curriculum integration and differentiation are often achieved in the context of inquiry-based instructional approaches.
