Recommended study pattern
In your first year, you’ll study marketing, management, accounting and finance. Plus, you get to choose 2 optional topics that interest you. After your first year, you can either specialise in a major that excites you or keep your options open by picking topics that match your passions.
Year 1

Year 2 & 3
After your first year, you can choose majors and minors, such as Marketing, Management or International Business. In your third year, you'll deepen your expertise in your chosen area of interest, gaining advanced knowledge and skills through hands-on projects, work experience and industry collaborations.
Program of study
Students have the option to:
- select two majors; or
- select a major and two minors; or
- select a major, one minor and option topics; or
- select a major and option topics.

Award requirements
To qualify for the Bachelor of Business, students must complete 108 units, including:
- Core topics (72 units) in business fundamentals, leadership, analytics, and communication.
- Elective topics (36 units) that allow for specialisation or interdisciplinary study.
All topics are normally worth 4.5 units. Students must achieve a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.0 or higher to qualify for the award.
Exit points
Students may choose to exit with an Associate Degree in Business after completing 72 units (two years of full-time study).

Entry requirements
To be accepted into this course, applications must meet at least one of the following entry requirements:
- Year 12 completion (or equivalent qualification), or
- TAFE/VET qualification, or
- Higher Education study, or
- Approved Foundation Studies program.
The Dean (Education) may, under certain circumstances and subject to specific conditions, admit others who can show evidence of fitness for candidature. Applicants who do not hold a bachelor's degree but have relevant professional experience in the public sector should provide employment experience information in their application.
English Proficiency Entry Requirements
Flinders University conducts an English Language proficiency check on applications submitted for consideration to its courses.
This will be met in a number of ways, including if the applicants:
- first language is English (i.e. citizenship is held for a country where English is the official language).
- completed secondary schooling in Australia.
- completed prior study in English (e.g. a Certificate IV or higher from a recognised Australian training institution).
- completed one semester of full-time equivalent tertiary study at a higher education institution.
- completed a recognised Foundation Studies or bridging program.
- performance in the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) meets the University's admissions requirements.
- registered with an Australian professional registration body relevant to the applicant's proposed course (e.g. applicant holds current registration as a Registered Nurse, General Practitioner, Teacher, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker and such in Australia).
- achieved a score within an international English language proficiency test such as IELTS, PTE, TOEFL or Cambridge CAE that meets the minimum proficiency for the university.
- completed an approved English language course from a registered English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) Provider.
In some instances, applicants may be asked to provide evidence they meet the requirements if the information required is not available in their application.
You may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) if you have completed previous study or gained relevant professional experience. Flinders University assesses credit on a case-by-case basis. If eligible, you may receive specified or unspecified credit towards your course requirements. You’ll need to provide evidence such as transcripts, subject outlines, or documentation of professional experience when you apply.
