The University of New England offers a flexible approach to the study of law. UNE boasts one of Australia&#39;s largest law schools outside a capital city, as well as being an early adopter of innovative technology in the delivery of its law programs. The Bachelor of Laws (4 year) is designed for people who are new to university study or to the study of law, including school leavers or people who want to change careers or get a qualification.The Bachelor of Laws is accredited by the Legal Profession Admission Board of NSW for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW and mutual recognition legislation extends admission to other Australian jurisdictions. After completion of academic qualifications in law, there is a range of employment options from which to choose. Graduates who wish to be admitted to practice as a solicitor, barrister or legal practitioner anywhere in Australia will also have to undertake a course of professional legal training (PLT). This can consist of approximately half a year&#39;s full‐time training undertaken internally or externally, or of equivalent part‐time training. In some jurisdictions, it may be possible to do articles of clerkship instead. Because the system adopted varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, enquiries should be made to the admission authority in the state or territory in which you intend to practice; this is usually a committee of the Supreme Court of that State or Territory or a special body set up to administer admissions to the legal profession. Bachelor of Laws (3 Years)

Complete the academic prerequisites to become a lawyer in just three years with the Bachelor of Laws, developing the intellectual, critical, and practical skills needed in the professional practice of law. In addition to the core units, which comply with professional accreditation requirements, the course includes unique core units such as the philosophy of law and environmental law, that reflect our focus on justice and critique. Elective units cover areas as diverse as human rights, race and the law, animal law, climate law and policy, psychology and the law and ecological jurisprudence. Sports doping is a truly international problem and has a significant impact on today&#39;s society; from cheating, to the politics and ethics of sophisticated doping programs, the enormous bureaucracy and cost of monitoring and prosecuting, along with the impact on an individual&#39;s mental and physical health. Students will recognise drug classes that can enhance athletic performance, and that both doping and detection technologies are constantly evolving, leading to a sports doping arms race between detection and doping which drives newer and ever more sophisticated methods of cheating. The subject begins with an overview of drug classes that are prohibited in sport, their mechanisms of action, effects on performance, and health effects. Students will then learn to appreciate the ethical and legal issues associated with sports doping detection, as well as an introduction into analytical testing methods and processes to ensure sample integrity. The subject incorporates online learning activities consisting of lectures and supportive contextual media, as well as experiential application of internet resources.

Sport Doping, Performance Enhancing Drugs and their Detection

Discovering Asia

This subject explores the nature of contracts in business to business relationships. You will examine the legalities surrounding contracts, including different types of contracts and important clauses. You will also learn the processes involved with contract administration, including contract variations, performance management and dealing with contract disputes, both from a contractor and client perspective. Through a case study analysis, you will investigate and resolve issues related to supplier performance and dispute resolution. As a major assessment task, you will develop an organisational contract management artefact to assist others with managing contracts.
