ICT Sales Professional

ICT Sales Professionals facilitate the sale of computers, software programmes and other information and communications technology on behalf of ICT companies. They should have technical knowledge of programmes and equipment selling and strong communication skills.

Duties and tasks

  • Evaluate company equipment as well as competing materials in the marketplace and advise management on inventory
  • Explain the benefits of ICT services and equipment to the customer, based on their business needs and encourage product and service sales
  • Keep updated records of all sales orders, payments scheduled and received and delivery schedules, installations and services provided
  • Organise equipment installation and schedule services for customers; follow up with customers to guarantee quality and satisfaction
  • Process sales orders, negotiating prices and contracts and scheduling payment details
  • Research potential customers through business directories and contacts, and set up meetings to meet with prospective clients
  • Update ICT companies or sales managers of the potential clients met with, sales and new ICT equipment and service recommendations

Working conditions

ICT Sales Professionals typically work Mondays to Fridays during regular business hours but may need to work evenings or weekends in order to make appointments with customers. They work in an office environment as well as travel to meet with customers.
