What does a dental practitioner do?
Duties and tasks
- Collaborate with other dental personnel for assistance and to refer patients for supplemental dental services.
- Examine patients experiencing oral pain or discomfort to help keep optimal health for patients teeth, gums and mouth.
- Identify causes of oral problems, including cavities and other dental diseases.
- Perform routine dental cleaning and check-ups for patients, including preventative procedures.
- Provide oral surgery when needed for prevention or restoration.
- Repair damaged or decayed gums and teeth using a variety of procedures including fillings and crowns and assist in correcting improper bites from disproportionate jaw or tooth irregularities.
- Research updates and new equipment and procedures in overall dental and oral health field.
