About this subject
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Critically examine a range of therapeutic modalities used in the management of mental health problems and addiction treatment.
- Critique the core principles and theories of psychological treatments.
- Plan interventions incorporating a therapeutic modality relevant to individual presentations in diverse settings.
- Critically analyse the contemporary role of the health professional as a therapist.
- Module 1: Fundamental Principles and Applications of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Module 2: Fundamental Principles and Applications of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Module 3: Fundamental Principles and Applications of Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
- Module 4: Fundamental Principles and Applications of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
- Module 5: Fundamental Principles and Applications of Motivational Interviewing (MI)
TAS-CNA739 introduces you to psychological therapies used in mental health settings, either as stand-alone interventions or in combination with pharmacological interventions. You will have the opportunity to explore factors relevant to the experience of mental health, as well as a range of psychological interventions that can be implemented in therapeutic engagement with individuals in clinical and professional settings. You will be introduced to the core principles and skills of therapeutic modalities relevant to mental health care and addictions treatment, developing knowledge through a range of online learning activities.
