By the end of this 12-week subject, you'll be able to:
- Explain the biological function of micronutrients in human health across the lifespan.
- Analyse and interpret physiological and contextual factors contributing to micronutrient insufficiency, deficiency or excess as guided by the Nutrient Reference Values (NRVs).
- Assess and describe nutrient requirements across the lifespan, during physical activity and within diverse populations to inform evidence-based nutritional strategies.

Human Nutrition 2 (NUTR2002A) provides a foundational study of micronutrients and how these relate to human health. This subject provides you with underpinning knowledge about the correlation that exists between micronutrients, human physiology and metabolism. Each micronutrient’s structure, biological function, dietary sources, recommended dietary intake and therapeutic dose is studied in accordance with the Nutrient Reference Values (NRVs). This subject also covers the factors contributing to, and symptoms associated with, states of excess, insufficiency and deficiency found in individuals and diverse populations.
