By the end of this 12-week subject, you'll be able to:
- Evaluate the contemporary landscape and practices of game design and development, including historical and emerging trends to inform creative decisions.
- Analyse and apply problem solving strategies and established game design principles to address real world game design challenges.
- Design and produce engaging digital games through iterative prototyping, incorporating feedback to refine gameplay.
- Fulfill the requirements of a digital game project brief, ensuring alignment with project goals and audience expectations.

Game Design Principles introduces students to game design foundations, techniques, and paradigms through a series of lecture-led and student-led activities. Students will explore game design principles by analysing existing games and applying those findings to their own work. Students are introduced to a variety of analysis, development, and presentation techniques encouraging discussion, creation and dissemination of their design choices through documentation and level design.
