Digital Design Foundations
About this subject
By the end of this 12-week subject, you'll be able to:
- Create original graphics for a diverse range of design projects.
- Demonstrate an ability to effectively and ethically use an extended range of tools and features of relevant software with a high level of technical proficiency.
- Integrate technical and creative processes to produce outcomes that meet design objectives and adhere to ethical design practices.
- A guide to the topics you will explore in this subject will be provided in your study materials.
This subject introduces a core set of industry-standard specialist design software tools from Adobe. The emphasis of this subject is on building a comprehensive familiarity with these tools and features so that their application becomes second nature and can be treated as part of the overall creative tool kit. Students will work through a range of small exercises to cement their learning and to build their working knowledge by experimenting with different tools and techniques. Students will then combine these tools and techniques to explore print and screen-based projects and in doing so, become aware of how to create flexible visual outcomes and not wedded to single-use mediums.
- Digital Design Literacy (10%)
- Design Software Basics 1 (20%)
- Design Software Basics 2 (35%)
- Integration of Design Software (35%)
