This subject provides an introduction to financial management and the basic financial mathematics required for the valuation of various financial instruments. It acts as a steppingstone for more advanced finance subjects. You will gain knowledge of the role of the financial manager in a corporation and the finance theories, concepts and tools that guide the financial manager in maximisation of shareholder value. Major topics include corporate governance, application of financial mathematics in pricing of various securities, basic statistics underpinning the risk and return relationship, capital budgeting, cost of capital, capital structure and dividend policy. The subject also exposes you to practical applications using cutting-edge financial tools.
