About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- investigate and apply interaction design principles and techniques appropriate for specific end users for a chosen interactive medium
- iterate upon and validate interaction design methods and strategies through industry standard practices
- create and communicate effective interaction design solutions that successfully address the needs of an end user across relevant platforms.
- The role of design, the designer and the web designer. The web design process.
- Planning: Choosing a project brief, brief breakdown, and conducting research.
- Planning: Target audience, goals and objectives, conducting research.
- Design: Brainstorming, web convention, design principles.
- Design: Ideation, colour theory, typography,
- Design: Experimentation, common web layouts, web design trends, responsive design intro.
- Design: Introduction to responsive design, conceptualisation, introduction to branding.
- Development: Navigation, site organisation, design principles
- Development: Image optimisation, semantic code and testing.
- Development: Implementing feedback, and publishing your site.
- Launch & Maintenance: Prelaunch web checklist, search engine optimisation (SEO).
- Launch & Maintenance: Copyright and introduction to site maintenance.
This subject introduces students to interaction design principles and the concepts, skills and tools required to produce a range of interactive experiences. Through practical projects and theoretical exploration, students build upon knowledge of prototyping and motion design techniques. Students develop an advanced understanding of interaction design principles for various digital modalities.
