About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- explain the differences between the functions of conservation and preservation in the workplace
- analyse the deployment of preservation principles and strategies
- research and analyse the diverse cultural, technical and legal requirements that impact on designing preservation projects
- design, implement and evaluate a preservation project.

This subject introduces students to the principles, strategies and tools used in physical and digital conservation and preservation. In this subject, students examine the requirements and planning involved in digital projects, from preparing physical items for digitisation to digital preservation management. The key focus in this subject is on preservation strategies, policies and systems.
