The effective management of health services is of vital importance to both the health sector and the broader community. Health service managers are responsible for the business of health care. Their skills are used to develop strategies to maximise the efficient, effective and equitable delivery of health services in a diverse range of health settings. The Master of Health Management and Leadership is designed to equip you with the knowledge, competencies and professional attitudes to undertake managerial roles and to provide leadership within the health sector.
You also have the option of exiting early and graduating with a Graduate Diploma in Health Management and Leadership.

Entry requirements
1.5 years full-time
- A completed recognised bachelor’s degree (or higher) in health, business or law; or
- A completed recognised bachelor’s degree in any other discipline with at least three years (full-time or equivalent) experience working in health management at a middle to senior level. Middle to senior-level experience is defined as experience in supervising or leadership (e.g. with responsibility for decision-making, teamwork, quality assurance and/or policy development); or
- Completion of QUT’s Graduate Certificate in Emergency and Disaster Management or Graduate Certificate in Health Management and Leadership. Units completed in the Graduate Certificate will be credited to the Master’s degree (total of 1.5-year duration with nested PQ30 or PQ31).
