Graduate Certificate in Case Management

The program provides integrated theoretical and practice knowledge which will equip graduates with the skills to be effective practitioners in the personal injury, employment service and related industries. The program is designed for graduates of any career discipline, as well as those already working in these industries who wish to build upon their existing knowledge base and skills and obtain a formal qualification.

Graduates of the Graduate Certificate in Case Management will have specialised knowledge in:

• person-centred planning, including an understanding of the theories and principles underpinning effective practice
• communication and interpersonal skills, including an understanding of theory and processes affecting the effectiveness of interpersonal communication with a broad range of stakeholders
• vocational decision making, including the major career development theories, vocational evaluation processes and vocational assessment tools utilised to determine vocational goals
• an additional area of human services, such as disability studies, mental health practice or injury management, depending on the listed elective chosen.

The Graduate Certificate in Case Management comprises two trimesters of part-time study.

This postgraduate program provides case managers in diverse practice roles, including rehabilitation coordinators, practitioners in the employment services industry and people in related human service and allied health roles with the skills and knowledge to effectively manage programs that support their clients to achieve personal and system goals.

This includes a wide range of human service and rehabilitation programs supporting diverse populations with complex needs, assisting clients to obtain and maintain employment and supporting people with injury or disability to achieve functional and participation goals.

You will be introduced to the values, theories, frameworks, principles and skills of person-centred planning, case management, and communication skills, and therefore become more efficient at determining individual need and planning, coordinating and procuring a range of appropriate services and supports to promote the goals of diverse clients.

Award requirements

To be eligible for the award of Graduate Certificate in Case Management (GCertCaseMgt), a student must acquire 40 credit points as prescribed below:

• gain 20 credit points for the prescribed courses;
• gain 20 credit points for the elective courses.

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Case Management, a student must have:

• completed a Bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) and a GPA of at least 4.0

Completed a Certificate IV VET/TAFE qualification in a related discipline from a recognised Institute (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) AND a minimum of one year full-time professional experience in the disability, rehabilitation or related human services fields.

Completed a minimum of three years full-time professional experience in the disability, rehabilitation or related human services fields and can demonstrate the ability to undertake graduate study through a discussion with the Program Director and provision of curriculum vitae and an employer's reference.

English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this program are as follows:

• A minimum overall band score of 6.5 on IELTS (Academic) with no sub-score of less than 6.0
• OR a minimum score of 575 on TOEFL
• OR an internet-based (iBT) TOEFL score of 79 (no sub-score less than 19)
• OR no score less than 3+ in each skill of the ISLPR (conducted by ISLPR Language Services only)
• OR a minimum overall score of 176 (no score less than 169) on C1 Advanced (formerly Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English) or C2 Proficiency (formerly Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English)
• OR an overall score of 58 in the Pearson Test of English (Academic) with no score less than 50.

English test results must be no more than two years old.

International students who successfully complete the Direct Entry Program (DEP) will satisfy the English Language requirements for this Griffith degree.

The Direct Entry Program (DEP) is not available for Domestic students.
