Diploma of Information Technology

During this course you will:

1. Demonstrate knowledge of computing technologies in solving practical business IT problems.
2. Appraise IT technologies in cloud computing and software development for building practical business IT applications.
3. Apply principles of human-centred design to IT solutions.
4. Propose IT solutions to diverse stakeholders for their approval.
5. Interpret professional obligations, ethics, and social responsibilities in a professional IT context.

Designed in collaboration with industry to provide you with the knowledge required to get started in the ICT sector, this course will equip you with foundational knowledge in topics such as computer hardware and software, networking and programming, website development and cloud computing. You will have gained a thorough introduction to IT professional practice.

The curriculum of this course is structured to align with the guidelines of the Australian Computer Society, the peak body for the ICT industry.

Course duration: 1 year full time, up to 2 years part time, 6 months accelerated.

Recommended study pattern

The course structure comprises of 8 Information Technology (IT) core subjects over levels 100 and 200, as follows:

• Level 100: 7 mandatory IT core subjects
• Level 200: 1 mandatory IT core subjects.

No elective subject is offered.

Award requirements

To be awarded the Diploma of Information Technology, students must complete 80 credit points over 8 subjects as outlined in the course structure above. Each subject has a value of 10 credit points.
