This subject was previously known as UX Design 1.This subject provides students with foundational knowledge and skills in user experience (UX) design. Through a combination of theoretical study and practical application, students will explore universal design principles, foundational UX theory, usability heuristics and the impact of technology on user experience.Please Note: If it’s your first time studying a Curtin University subject you’ll need to complete their compulsory ‘Academic Integrity Program’. Through this subject you will explore and analyse spaces of interaction that operate on different scales and with different sets of relations, for example human and non-human, analogue and digital. Drawing from diverse design methodologies you will learn approaches to design decision making through collaboration, empathy, diverse knowledge and insight.This subject introduces you to the roles of context, experience and feedback in design processes which are inherently fluid and messy. You will learn how to gain contextual understanding of a problem by applying different perspectives and drawing on experiences, histories, narratives, and data - of people, places, objects and systems. You will also develop methods for researching, conceptualising, and developing insights.By doing primary and secondary research on a given topic, you will create the foundation for designing an interface based on analysis, conceptual development and low-fi prototyping. Throughout the design process you will seek and provide feedback by engaging in design critique to evidence design decisions and refine your design.

This subject was previously known as User Interface Design.This subject focuses on providing an understanding of interface and interaction design especially for game and simulation systems.Murdoch University students should also note that Human-computer Interaction ( ICT325) is considered academically equivalent and therefore you should not enrol in this subject if you have successfully completed ICT325.Please Note: All students studying at Murdoch University will need to complete the compulsory unit, Murdoch Academic Passport (MAP100), which only takes 2-3 hours to complete online. Games User Experience and  Interface Design
