Whether you‘re a recent high school graduate, a more seasoned professional looking for a career change, or want to upskill using existing knowledge Open Universities Australia (OUA) can help you enrol in the course that’s right for you.

We chat with OUA student advisor Tony about the options available to students, and how he helps people of all backgrounds and circumstances achieve their goals.

What’s the best part of being a student advisor?

Engaging with prospective and current students to help them design their futures.

What’s the most common question you get asked, and what is your response?

I often get asked: “How do I get admitted into this degree? It’s been a while since I completed high school and I didn’t get a good ATAR.”

My response is that it’s easy to enrol. You don’t have to worry about not having a "good ATAR“ or not having studied for a while with OUA. When you choose to study open enrolment subjects first, you can be admitted into a degree.

Would you recommend studying online through OUA?

Yes, I highly recommend online studies through OUA. It provides an opportunity to complete a degree no matter your background, and without having to go on campus!

Since starting at OUA, what have you noticed as the biggest change in education?

The biggest change is that we‘re offering more degrees for student to choose from! Still the most popular that I experience on calls is education and then business, and perhaps a psychology major?

More unis are offering MBAs online now too. Which is a big wow!

Students are getting more options and we, the student advisors, try to do our best in regards to which uni we can recommend for your needs. I always advise that students look at the uni’s profile on our site, as well as the course profile to help them decide.

If you’d like the flexibility of reaching your goals where and when you want through online study, we’re here to help. Get in touch with a friendly student advisor for a range of helpful advice. Who knows? You might speak with Tony!
