Night Filler

Night Fillers stock and supply retail and grocery stores with products and merchandise. They typically work late evenings and early mornings before and after store hours to avoid impeding customers from shopping. They should be efficient, able to work at a fast pace performing repetitive tasks.

Duties and tasks

  • Assist customers locate and transport items when working during store hours
  • Collect and transport items from the storeroom to the sales floor for shelving and stocking
  • Label goods with prices if requested and discard expired items that have not been sold
  • Organise shelves, racks and bins, removing all products or goods that have been misplaced and bringing them to appropriate areas
  • Position products and goods in an organised way on racks and in shelves or bins
  • Refer to stock inventory and record products sold and taken from stockroom
  • Restock shelves with goods, placing products with earliest expiration dates in the front and placing new items in the back

Working conditions

Night Fillers typically work rotating weekly schedules based on needs and hours of operation at the retail or supermarket location. They may be required to stand for long periods of time as well as kneel and climb on ladders to stock shelves. They must be able to lift boxes of products to be shelved and perform repetitive tasks for long periods of time.
