Hair & Beauty Salon Assistant
Assistant positions in hair and beauty salons work as a receptionist for the salon, and may also work as a shampooer. They assist hairdressers and cosmetologists who provide clients with beauty services. They require good communication and organisational skills, as well as a basic knowledge of the beauty industry.
Duties and tasks
- Answer phones and e-mails; schedule appointments and call clients
- Greet clients and notify beauticians and hairdressers that their appointments have arrived
- Keep the salon and lobby area clean and merchandise stocked and organised
- Prepare and serve refreshments to clients
- Shampoo hair and escort clients to hairdressers stations
- Take payments for beauty treatments and product sales

Working conditions
Hair and Beauty Salon Assistants work in small and large salons. They may also travel to various locations for celebrations, special occasions, and other events accompanying hairdressers or beauticians requested to work on-site.
