About this subject
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Apply knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and planning models to evaluate learning sequences.
- Apply a variety of assessment strategies that draw on theoretical perspectives to assess student learning.
- Analyse and interpret various forms and purposes of planning for, assessing, and reporting on student learning.
- Engage critically with content to create knowledge, and to communicate concepts and ideas to an intended audience.

In this subject the various roles a teacher plays, including planner, assessor and reporter, are considered. These roles are interconnected and vital for effective learning in contemporary educational contexts. You will be introduced to big-picture planning (nation, state & school-wide) as well as planning class subjects of work. You will develop an understanding of the principles and practices of reporting to students, parents and other stakeholders and demonstrate a critical understanding of assessment as/of/for learning. This subject provides opportunities to establish clear links between theoretical underpinnings of reporting/assessment/planning and professional practice.
