About this subject

  • Upon successful completion of this subject, the student should be able to:

    1. Assess principles of the quality use of medicines and medication safety.
    2. Outline the extent and types of medication-related problems in the Australian healthcare system.
    3. Differentiate between individual, technical and systemic causes of medication-related problems.
    4. Create practical solutions for reducing medication-related harms in vulnerable populations in diverse settings.

To enrol in this subject you must be accepted into one of the following degrees:

  • TAS-CPH-GDI-2026 - Graduate Diploma of Clinical Pharmacy
  • TAS-AMS-GDI-2026 - Graduate Diploma of Advanced Practice (Medication Safety)
  • TAS-AMS-MAS-2026 - Master of Advanced Practice (Medication Safety)

Additional requirements

  • Other requirements - Teaching Arrangement: Students are expected to complete approximately 10 hours of independent learning per week, plus 1 hour fortnightly online tutorial sessions.
