About this subject
On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
- Explain the core concepts, substance, and structure of the curriculum within the Languages Learning Area.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of pedagogical practices within the languages learning area.
- Apply knowledge of students, the Languages curriculum, pedagogy, and context to design and evaluate learning goals, lesson plans, and teaching sequences within the Languages domain.
- Audit content knowledge and develop a personal learning plan.

This subject will introduce you to the essential theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to effectively teach languages in secondary schools. You will explore contemporary approaches to language teaching, including the integration of intercultural understanding and the use of technology to enhance language learning. You will engage with the Australian Curriculum and other relevant curricula for Languages to develop lesson plans and learning sequences, and design assessments that cater to diverse learners.
