Systems Thinking
About this subject
By the end of the subject, you should be able to:
1. Use a systems thinking perspective to analyse the impact of complex interactive systems on their organisation;
2. Reflect critically on resilience, capacity and opportunity for undertaking systems change;
3. Apply the methods of system dynamics, to map relationships, connections, feedback loops and to design systems interventions that bring about positive change;
4. Assess systems interventions;
5. Use a three-dimensional thinking framework to inform communications, decision making, leadership and organisational design

This subject is an introduction to systems thinking and the concept of resilience. Both are important ways of understanding a changing world and the complex challenges facing organisations today. The application of systems thinking to organisations takes an interdisciplinary approach to leadership, risk management, problem solving and organisational change. By the end of this course, participants will have tools and strategies to engage others in the process of system and resilience thinking to examine and address organisational challenges.
