About this subject
Upon completion of this subject, students will be able to:
- demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of financial markets with some depth in security trading and pricing;
- use a range of cognitive and communication skills to review critically, analyse, consolidate and synthesise relevant theories, concepts and information drawn from a range of sources in order to demonstrate critical thinking and judgement in making financial decisions; and
- work independently to plan and execute tasks to enhance professional knowledge and skills.
- Topics will be available to enrolled students in the subjects Learning Management System site approximately one week prior to the commencement of the teaching period.
In the fast-paced world of financial markets, you need a strong understanding of financial products and instruments that are traded globally, how they interact and how human elements affect their performance. This subject will equip you with an in-depth knowledge of the major products traded in global financial markets. Exploring the domestic financial system, you will analyse the role of financial institutions in facilitating transactions. You will examine the role of money and capital markets, including equity and debt securities, and analyse how derivative instruments can be used to reduce risk. Using theories from behavioural finance, you will hone your understanding of how people interact in financial markets.
