About this subject

  • Upon completion of this subject, students will be able to:

    1. demonstrate conversational skills in the target language appropriate to level;
    2. apply strategies for turn-taking, monitoring mutual understanding and repair of misunderstandings in oral discussion;
    3. utilise essential vocabulary that relates to everyday situations;
    4. use functional  language to communicate across a range of social settings;
    5. apply knowledge of elementary grammatical structures of the target language; and
    6. demonstrate an understanding of key social-cultural issues and the associated conversational conventions influencing communication in the target language.
