About this subject
By the end of this 12-week subject, you'll be able to:
- Examine digital media technique and workflow technologies.
- Evolve and refine digital media technique through a demonstrated process of experimentation and reflection.
- Demonstrate individual style in own work.
- Produce a coherent body of artwork that includes the application of well-developed digital media techniques.
- A guide to the topics you will explore in this subject will be provided in your study materials.
The purpose of this subject is to establish principles and practices for working with and enhancing digital images. This includes understanding the technical properties of images, using various software tools for managing their cataloguing, editing, processing and storage whilst employing efficient workflows. Within the subject, students will research and experiment with manipulation and enhancement strategies in the pursuit of a personal creative style that can be applied to images captured. Students will be assessed based on their editing techniques and the ability to manage digital assets.
- Assessment 1: Introduction to Digital Asset Management & Image Editing (30%)
- Assessment 2: Image Editing in Lightroom (40%)
- Assessment 3: Image Manipulation in Photoshop (30%)

Additional requirements
- Software requirements - Students require access to a laptop or desktop, specialist image-editing software, DSLR or mirrorless camera and lens, tripod and folding reflector.
Study load
