Animation Principles
About this subject
By the end of this 12-week subject, you'll be able to:
- Analyse and evaluate animation principles from local and global contexts.
- Develop animated sequences using procedural 3D software.
- Design animated concepts and develop process documentation.
- Employ creative ideation to visualise dynamic and moving imagery to solve communication problems.
- Develop procedural and dynamic simulation.
- A guide to the topics you will explore in this subject will be provided in your study materials.
This subject explores the fundamental principles of producing animations within 3D software. Students are first introduced to a range of techniques relating to keyframe based animation such as speed, ease and velocity. Students are also introduced to alternative methods of animation including procedural and dynamics based simulations. These skills are designed to expand student awareness of methodologies in creating animation and their application to a wide range of potential outcomes such as game design, broadcast motion design and branded identity.
- Animated simulation (40%)
- Key-frame animated sequence (30%)
- Procedural animation (30%)
