This subject allows students to extend their formal academic learning beyond the classroom. Students complete a minimum of 80 hours of work placement combined with academic activities that require reflection on self-efficacy, skill application and skill development. Subject to approval from the University, placements can be undertaken within an organisation, remotely, or as a virtual experience. This subject provides students with opportunities to apply and adapt their skills from a Business, Criminology or Humanities discipline to a real-world environment and network with employers. It brings together the expertise of industry partners and La Trobe University staff for the benefit of students' professional development.
- Skills assessment and development plan (1250 words equivalent) (30%)

Prerequisites: Students must have completed 90 credit points and be admitted into the following course: LBBO
Past La Trobe University students who have previously completed LTU2001 (Industry Placement for STEM) or LTU2002 (Industry Placement for Health) are ineligible to enrol in this subject.
This subject has a quota restriction. Enrolments are accepted until the quota of 100 students is reached.
Additional requirements
- Placement requirements - Students complete a minimum of 80 hours of work placement. Students are required to self-source an approved industry placement or successfully obtain a university-sourced placement to occur within Australia prior to enrolment. Students may require a Working With Children Check or Police Check, subject to placement requirements.
Study load
- 0.125 EFTSL
- This is in the range of 10 to 12 hours of study each week.
Equivalent full time study load (EFTSL) is one way to calculate your study load. One (1.0) EFTSL is equivalent to a full-time study load for one year.
