This capstone subject is the culmination of your learning in the criminology degree. By expanding and extending skills and knowledge acquired throughout the degree, you will deepen your understanding of criminal law and accountability through a focus on ethics and ethical dilemmas. In the first part of the subject, you will study questions of ethics and accountability as they pertain to criminal law and criminology. In the second part, you will bring your acquired knowledge to bear through an independent research project. After completing this subject, you will be able to critically discuss ethics in the context of criminal law, and have demonstrated independence, critical reflection and a deepened understanding of a relevant topic through your project.
- Class exercises (1000 word equivalent) assessing students comprehension of readings and other teaching materials. (25%)
- Completion of the hurdle requirement of a report meeting with tutor (0%)
