About this subject
On successful completion you will be able to:
- Design and conduct a feasible and small-scale nutrition project that is informed on contemporary nutrition evidence, uses relevant nutrition assessment skills, and uses appropriate data analysis methods to solve a real-world scenario.
- Formulate and justify outcomes and/or recommendations which are supported by relevant scientific nutrition evidence and acknowledge the strengths and limitations of nutrition-related research methodology.
- Apply the principles of ethical conduct of research and standards of ethics for nutrition professionals.
- Communicate scientifically, truthfully and professionally to disseminate the project outcomes and/or recommendations to a range of stakeholders.

In this subject, you will apply your research skills to real-life or industry projects. Working in a group you will plan and conduct the project and analyse and interpret the data collected. Individually and as a group, you will be expected to apply critical thinking skills and creativity when communicating the project outcomes and recommendations to relevant stakeholders or industry.
- Research proposal (300 word equivalent per team member) This is an early assessment (15%)
- 2500 word equivalent project report (60%)
- 5 minutes presentation per team member on project outcomes (25%)

Prerequisites: Students must be admitted in the following course: HBFN and have completed 240 credit points.
Past La Trobe University students who have previously completed DTN3EPO (Epidemiology and Research Skills for Nutrition) and DTN3NPO (Nutrition Project) are ineligible to enrol in this subject.
