About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- Demonstrate a theoretical understanding of the literature in relation to managing diversity and the national and organisational practices which are associated with diversity theories.
- Demonstrate a theoretical understanding of issues of employment equity in organisations and relevant legislation.
- Demonstrate an ability to analyse diversity issues in organisations and the strategies used to address diversity in organisations.
- Demonstrate an ability to assess organisational responses to harness the benefits of diversity or inclusiveness in organisations.

This subject was previously known as IRL140.
This subject responds to the need for employment relations and human resource managers to effectively manage increasing diversity in organisations with workforces having a range of cultural, ethnic, gender, (dis)ability, age and other differences. The subject examines legislation and practice and the search for balance promoting equity and productivity.
Students should not enrol in this subject if they have completed: 7041EHR Managing Diversity and Inclusion.
- Assignment 1: Report (800 words) (25%)
- Assessment 2: Research Essay (1300 words) (35%)
- Assessment 3: Case Study Essay or Report (1500 words) (40%)
