About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- Apply learning theory to design effective & inclusive lesson for a major curriculum area accounting for the full teaching & learning cycle
- Evaluate formative assessment methods and digital strategies for their purpose and value to record and provide feedback for student learning
- Explore and analyse strength-based strategies to support students' wellbeing within a safe learning environment and apply effective learner collaboration skills in classroom settings
- Select and apply effective interpersonal and communication strategies, focusing on students, colleagues and caregivers.
- Module 1: Learning design, practice & assessment for diverse learners
- Module 2: Positive student management theory & practice
- Module 3: Professional conduct & communication
This subject is the second in a sequence of four professional teaching practice focused subjects. This subject will develop your ability to critically analyse key education theories, concepts, and skills to develop your professional teaching praxis. Within this subject, there are three modules. The first module will further examine evidence based learning and teaching models, philosophies, processes and government policies for inclusive learning design and assessment. The second module explores strength-based strategies to support students' wellbeing within a safe learning environment. The third module will continue to address professional conduct behaviours, and effective interpersonal and communication strategies focusing on communicating with students as well as colleagues and parents/caregivers. This subject is designed to provide an ongoing theoretical and practical foundation of essential skills you will need to demonstrate on your second school-based professional experience placement.
