At the compleion of this subject students will be able to:
- critically evaluate the quality of learning and teaching in one’s professional practice utilising available data to identify an area of focus and need that is appropriate for action research.
- assess SoLT research literature, methods and approaches in the context of contemporary teaching and learning contexts.
- design an action research project informed by SoLT literature, methods and approaches related to a specific areas of learning and teaching need.

In consultation with the subject coordinator, learners will problematise their teaching context and apply the fundamentals of Scholarship of Learning and Teaching (SoLT) approaches and research methods to design, implement and evaluate a SoLT project. Learners will undertake the design of an original, small scale action research based project exploring a dimension of their learning and teaching. Dissemination is a central facet of SoLT. In this subject you will give a presentation outlining your research project, rationale for the research design and initial findings or observations. This subject is designed to help learners initiate the journey toward dissemination of their project(s) for teaching and learning awards and citations, teaching and learning oriented conferences, and submission to education research and SoLT journals. This is intended to enable learners to contribute to the broader academic community and to evidence their scholarly approach to their professional development.
