Archives Concepts and Practice
About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- research and analyse primary source materials and their function as evidence
- evaluate the impact and influence of social and technological change on archival principles and practice
- create archival documentation and evaluate the role it plays in accountability, evidentiality and authenticity
- critique the implementation of how indigenous epistemologies as well as individual and community perspectives are adopted in the creation and management of archives
- design archival tools utilising Australian and international standards and appraise their contribution to Australian archival knowledge.

This subject was previously known as INFM270 Archives Concepts and Practice.
This subject introduces students to the theory and practice of archives and the archival profession. In this unit, students examine key archival principles and practices and their application in Australian and international regulatory frameworks, standards, and policies. A key focus in this unit includes a critical examination of archives and archival work as instruments and facilitators of power, accountability, identity, memory and social justice.
