3D Digital Sculpting
About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- conduct appropriate research in the development of new design solutions
- effectively document decision making processes of developing concepts through design analysis
- Utilise appropriate tools and techniques in creative practice and output
- develop a digitally sculpted design object.
- Topology and UVs;
- Sculpting tools;
- Texture Baking, Procedural Texturing and Kit Bashing;
- Reference Images, Mesh Painting, and the Anatomy of the Torso;
- Anatomy of the Arms and Legs ;
- Face Painting, Blendshapes and Anatomy of Hands and Feet;
- Polish and Rendering;
- Blocking Out Full Character Proportions;
- Creating Clothing;
- Adding Fine Details.
Designing a 3D digital sculpted outcome, the subject covers selected digital sculpting methods of production, technologies and approaches which are applied to a creative project. In addition to digital sculpting, students will study human anatomy to enhance their creative outcome. Students analyse trends, related techniques and similar creative work to inform their creative project. Concepts studied and applied include the use of relevant 3D modelling and digital sculpting tools to achieve a high-fidelity 3D sculpted creative project.
