About this degree
Graduates will be able to apply in-depth knowledge of:
- local and global, social, cultural, political and economic perspectives and practices associated with the education of children, young people and adults;
- curriculum, pedagogy and assessment, policies and practices designed to improve learning outcomes and well-being for students/clients;
- methods for fostering interdisciplinary and intercultural partnerships and working collaboratively;
- evaluate current literature in the field of education with an informed, critical perspective;
- develop dispositions, cognitive skills, reflective awareness and creativity to facilitate the application of evidence-based knowledge, skills and capacities to educational practices.
This degree is intended for people currently employed in education, education management and for those who have an interest in developing their knowledge and practice in these areas. It introduces knowledge and skills in your area of interest, with a focus on understanding and changing practice.
It provides an introduction to matters of educational policy and practice and offers educational topics of particular value or interest to the student including educational research methods topics.
It is 2 years in length on a full-time basis and can also be undertaken part-time.
Recommended study pattern
Students are required to undertake study two compulsory subjects: EDUC9761 Approaches to Research and EDUC9719 Independent Research Study. The remaining subjects to complete the basic entry level for the course are chosen from an extensive range of elective subjects.
As a guide, full-time students generally undertake four subjects per semester and part-time students undertake two subjects per semester.
Award requirements
To complete the requirements of the Master of Education (Basic level entry), students must successfully complete two core (compulsory) subjects and fourteen elective subjects chosen from an extensive range of electives.
