This subject is designed to provide you with hands on practical experience developing software in a project environment. You work in teams and will complete projects from inception to implementation.
This subject includes a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/ or community is integral to your experience.
As the project teams and projects will be assigned during the first week all enrolled students are advised to engage with the subject from the beginning of week 1.
Please note: This subject is considered to be a capstone subject for the Bachelor of Information Technology degree in which students demonstrate their competency in a (simulated) Work Integrated Learning (WIL) environment.
All students seeking the Bachelor of Information Technology award will need to complete this subject.

Progress a profession in programming. Get hands-on experience and work with teams developing software in a commercial project setting. Integrate formal project management methods. Track and manage project process from concept to implementation.

Programming Project

Gain an understanding of animal identification for future employment in agricultural, horticultural and environmental areas. You will finish the subject being able to examine animal structure and identify animals in phylum or better level using appropriate techniques. You will study invertebrates (sponges, cnidarian, flatworms, molluscs, annelids, anthropods, nematodes, echinoderms, etc.) and the vertebrates (fishes, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals). You will also learn about lifecycles, structure, function and reasons for importance of different groups of animals.

Take a virtual trek into the natural world and study the structures, lifecycles and functions of different animal groups. Explore animal reproduction and body processes. Identify the characteristics in fauna as varied as amphibians, worms, mammals and birds.

Animal Diversity

Become confident in recognising plant genus and species. Learn their characteristics, importance, application and place in the environment. Use taxonomy and classification to get acquainted with the unknown.

Plant Diversity

This course introduces you to the principles and practice of developing applications using C# programming language. Topics include the C# programming language, ASP.NET, Web API, client-side libraries and security.What you will learn:<ul><li>Gain a solid architectural understanding of ASP.NET Core MVC.</li><li>Explore the entire ASP.NET MVC Framework as a cohesive whole.</li><li>See how MVC and test-driven development work in action.</li><li>Learn what&#39;s new in ASP.NET Core MVC and how best to apply these new features to your own work.</li><li>See how to create RESTful and Angular Single Page Application.</li></ul>

Design and build your technically creative future. Apply skills developing applications for Microsoft using CLI and C# programming language. Consider security and performance. Integrate web applications with back-end databases and create web services.

Web Development Technologies

This is a Work Integrated Learning subject which prepares you for employment through a combination of:
<ul><li>lectures on topics important to the professional scientist, such as working in teams, legal and ethical aspects of science, risk recognition;</li><li>working in teams to develop a mock research project grant application on a topic of interest to industry.</li></ul>
The skills and knowledge that you gain will be used throughout your career. This subject is taken in the final year of an undergraduate course and provides an introduction to those areas of professional practice not generally covered within your technical degree.

Examine a scientific career. Gain professional workplace experience for your future in science. Learn practical legal and ethical issues and risk assessment techniques. Work in teams to create and deliver a mock research project. Write a business case. 

The Professional Scientist

This course provides students with knowledge and understanding of, and practical skills in, immunology and the way it is applied in diagnostic and therapeutic techniques and research. Topics covered include:<ul><li>An overview of the immune system including organs, cells and receptors.</li><li>Recognition of pathogens; antigen processing and presentation; Co-stimulatory signals for T cell activation; Role of cytokines in lymphocyte maturation and activation. Immunity to infection and pathological consequences of immunodeficiencies; Immune responses to viral infections, HIV and AIDS; Molecular basis of antigen recognition. Antibodies and applications; Approaches to vaccination; Immunotherapies.</li><li>Cancer immunology and vaccines; Transplantation immunology.</li></ul>

Boost your knowledge and response to immunology in diagnostics and therapeutic research. Study pathogens and antigen processing and presentation. Expose immune responses and immune deficiency. Reveal antibodies, vaccines and vaccinations

Advanced Immunology and Cell Technology

Grasp the principles and methods of emerging gene technology. Study the structure and function of macromolecules. Examine gene cloning and expression systems. Learn how technology is used to change the genetic makeup of cells to diagnose and treat disease.

Gene Technologies

This subject covers ecological sampling and ecology, including practical skills in ecological sampling techniques and their application to the study of ecological systems and environmental pollution. This subject trains students in the utilisation of ecological sampling techniques in the field to solve applied ecological problems and in preparing critical scientific reports.

Weigh up factors that impact ecosystems, such as fire, invasion and population. Compare different ecological communities with one another. Complete this subject with an understanding of the techniques used when taking ecological samples in the field.
