About this subject
Upon completion of this subject, the student should be able to:
- Investigate the role and impact of policies and systems in dementia locally and globally.
- Critically analyse the major drivers of local and public policy in relation to dementia.
- Examine policy and system evaluation relevant to health and well-being for people living with dementia.
- Critically analyse major national approaches to the design of health care systems in relation to the needs of people with dementia.
- Module 1: Foundations of policy and systems in dementia
- Module 2: Evaluation and measurement of policy impact
- Module 3: Post-diagnostic support and the role of rehabilitation
- Module 4: The role of policy in restraint practices
- Module 5: Hospitals and dementia
In this subject, you will explore how policies and systems influence the care and support offered to individuals living with dementia and their care partners. You will analyse national and international strategies, assessing their effects on access, quality and fairness in service provision. Through the content modules and assessment tasks, you will tailor your learnings to your own interests and apply key insights to your personal and professional context. This approach ensures that learning is meaningful and relevant, empowering you to translate theory into practice and make informed contributions within your chosen field.
