Management of Special Populations in Critical Care and Retrieval
About this subject
On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
- Discuss and demonstrate advanced assessment, clinical decision making and emergency management of special patient populations with acute or complex presentations.
- Justify advanced clinical skills required in the critical care and retrieval setting to manage special patient populations with high-acuity and emergent patient presentations.
- Analyse the common clinical conditions and the associated clinical procedures and practices required for systematic and safe retrieval of special populations.

This subject develops advanced knowledge and capabilities for assessment, monitoring and management of special patient populations with acute or complex medical or trauma emergencies in the critical care and retrieval setting. You will further develop your clinical reasoning and decision-making skills, incorporating the principles of advanced pharmacology, contemporary evidence-based advanced practice, and ethical considerations for providing systematic, safe and effective critical care.
