What you'll learn

On completion of this unit, you will be able to: 

  1. Explain the various interpretations of ‘an electronic health record’  
  2. Identify drivers and trends influencing the development of an EHR 
  3. Model the use of an EHR within a particular healthcare environment  
  4. Identify possible points of tension in the socio-technical system  
  5. Incorporate relevant standards for interoperability of EHRs  
  6. Explain the importance of vocabularies  
  7. Critically review stakeholder perspectives on the EHR  
  8. Use appropriate scholarly references to support discussion  
  9. Write clearly and succinctly in an appropriate academic style, presenting work in accordance with the Presentation of Assignment guidelines and with correct referencing (Harvard Author-Date system).
