Subject details
Upon completion of this subject, students will be able to:
further utilise advanced structures and functions of the Italian language;
demonstrate further understanding of modern Italian language and the use of forms and expressions in colloquial interaction at an advanced level; and
demonstrate further knowledge of Italian culture through the use of advanced texts for language practice dealing with various aspects of Italian history, arts and lifestyle.

Extend your Italian language skills and become one of the millions of people worldwide who speak Italian for business or in their daily lives. This subject is the continuation of the advanced language strand. It aims to bring you to a point where you can more competently read and understand Italian, and more accurately write and speak in Italian. It involves a partial revision and practice of grammar points introduced in previous language subjects, through the reading and appreciation of texts taken from contemporary Italian media. You will further develop your knowledge of Italian culture through the use of advanced texts for language practice dealing with various aspects of Italian history, arts and lifestyle.
Assessment 1: Language Assessment 1. 700 words. Relates to Learning Outcomes 1-3 Assessment 2: Language Assessment 2. 700 words. Relates to Learning Outcomes 1-3 Assessment 3: Oral Language Assessment 600 words (equivalent). Relates to Learning Outcomes 1-3 Assessment 4: Take Home Exam. 3hrs. 3000 words (equivalent). It is mandatory to pass this component in order to pass the unit. Relates to Learning Outcomes 1-3
- Assessment 1: Language Assessment 1. 700 words. Essay (400 words); summary (300 words) of an article in advanced level Italian. (20%)
- Assessment 4: Take Home Exam. 3hrs. 3000 words (equivalent). It is mandatory to pass this component in order to pass the unit. (50%)
- Assessment 2: Language Assessment 2. 700 words. Essay (400 words); summary (300 words) of an article in advanced level Italian. (20%)
- Assessment 3: Oral Language Assessment 600 words (equivalent). Conducted online or by telephone. (10%)
