About this subject

  • On successful completion of the subject you should be able to:

    1. demonstrate an understanding of how and why information systems are used today
    2. identify the technological, human, and organisational contexts of information systems
    3. describe the major components of an information systems infrastructure
    4. discuss how organisations identify and use information systems to improve strategic advantage
    5. analyse the ethical issues associated with the information systems profession
    6. explain how organisations develop and acquire information systems and technologies to achieve their goals
    7. examine the various types of information systems that provide the information to support the operations and decision making of organisations
    8. create a simple information system to solve a problem
    9. be aware of emerging trends that enable new forms of communication, collaboration, and partnering.
