In this subject, you are introduced to the broad concepts of health data and system development lifecyle (SDLC) and the purpose, scope, design and functionalities of health information systems. You will explore the theoretical concepts behind systems planning, analysis, design, implementation, evaluation, support and maintenance of the systems development lifecycle including issues that impact systems, data and information security. Through your assessments, you will demonstrate technical skills in systems planning, analysis and design phases of the SDLC by creating user stories and data flow diagrams as well as evaluating systems design. You will develop an understanding of how health professionals interact with the health information systems development lifecycle.
- 30 minute online quiz (500 words equivalent) (10%)
- Individual assignment (1,000 words equivalent) (30%)
- 15 minute group presentation (750 words per student) (20%)
- 1.5 hour online final examination (1,500 words equivalent) (40%)
