This course surveys the comparative political economy of East Asia, a highly dynamic region and one of critical importance to Australia&#39;s economic prosperity and security. It examines nine countries, including China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia. Within these national settings, it focuses on government interventions in national economies and business involvement in politics, and activities that have helped to shape different rates of economic growth and political openness. Personal Finance integrates economics and personal finance concepts, such as interest rates, time value of money, probability, diversification and biases in consumer finance, to help students appreciate the implications of economic events and the complexities of financial decision-making. Personal Finance

In an increasingly complex financial system, independence and effective decision-making are important life skills. In business, financial skills drive profitability within the rules and regulations of government, institutions and organizations. In this subject you will understand basic monetary flows in the economy, and the interrelationships and dependencies between money, society, groups and organizations, locally and globally. You will develop core skills in financial literacy for business and an understanding of the key principles of accounting, finance and economics. Sound accounting, finance and economics skills are sought by employers in any business graduate, as they enable a solid understanding of the principles that drive enterprise toward success.Students should not enrol in this subject if they have completed 1006GBS Why Money Matters at Griffith University.

An online business course that sets you up with skills in accounting, finance, and economics. Topics include financial statements, budgeting, and scams to look out for. Manage money effectively and make informed investment decisions. 

This course introduces students to the basic economic principles and techniques (both micro and macro) with particular applications to the digital economy. Understanding of these principles and techniques equip students with relevant foundational skills to analyse the dynamic of the digital economy in relation to the implications, opportunities and challenges it presents. With digital economy the world has also seen an exponential increase in the amount of data generated per second. When strategically managed and analysed, data transform into useful information for business decision making. As such, this course further equips students with basic data analytic skills in applied business context.

Digital Economy and Analysis

Sustainable economics provides the foundation knowledge of economic concepts and principles and develops your critical thinking and problem-solving skills to enable you to engage in meaningful discussions concerning local and global issues from individual choices or corporate strategies through to government decision-making about national policies. You will explore economic growth, sustainability, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the interaction of social and economic development. Real world economic issues will be used to demonstrate the complexity and competing perspectives of sustainability in terms of environment, social, economic, cultural and political priorities in the context of how economists measure costs and benefits and develop economic solutions to market inefficiency and failure.Students must not have completed 1303AFE Economics for Decision Making 1.
