This degree progresses the learning of our Bachelor of Applied Science (Architectural Science) providing a further two years of advanced studies in design project work, architectural history, theory and research, management, law and professional practice.Students are involved in advanced design projects, analysing urban contexts and considering urban design and place making. Students will also develop research knowledge and skills before completing their own individual dissertation in architectural design.

This subject was previously known as Architectural Systems Research Topics.Students will develop research skills focused on digital, technological or environmental architectural systems through a nominated research project. Students will conduct an in-depth exploration and analysis, employing digital fabrication and making techniques to explore advanced architectural systems. Using skills and knowledge’s relating to their understanding of digital and/or physical application, students will produce an outcome that is applicable to defined environments and communities. Students will be expected to demonstrate technical and architectural language proficiency related to the selected focus of the research. There will be a fieldwork component, the nature of which is dependent upon the focus of the research.Please Note: If it’s your first time studying a Curtin University subject you’ll need to complete their compulsory ‘Academic Integrity Program’. Advanced Architectural Systems Research Applications

This subject was previously known as Architectural Culture Research Topics 1.Students use critical and analytical skills to develop an advanced understanding of themes, concepts and research methods relating to the theoretical, historical, social and cultural aspects of architecture and urban environments. Students are provided with a particular focus on exploring and understanding of the Australian First Nations worldview, and of Indigenous practices and Indigenous research methods. Students will be expected to gain knowledge of Caring for Country practices and implications for Country as an aspect of environmentally sustainable landscape. This will be done through a range of First Nation literature, design precedents and through a meaningful engagement with Indigenous communities.
