Undergraduate Certificate in Architecture

This degree is the prerequisite for entry into the Master of Architecture. The degree covers the design of buildings, the technical aspects of building construction, and how architecture relates to societies, cultures and people and the way they live. Architectural ideas are communicated through written and spoken reports, photographs, drawings, models and the electronic media. Students not intending to continue on to the Master may use the knowledge gained in this degree to seek employment within the architectural profession or building industry.Software Requirements - Students will require access to the following software: Photoshop, AutoCAD and Rhino. Details on accessing AutoCAD and Rhino will be provided in due degree at the commencement of relevant subjects (please note this software is free for student use). Bachelor of Applied Science (Architectural Science)

This degree progresses the learning of our Bachelor of Applied Science (Architectural Science) providing a further two years of advanced studies in design project work, architectural history, theory and research, management, law and professional practice.Students are involved in advanced design projects, analysing urban contexts and considering urban design and place making. Students will also develop research knowledge and skills before completing their own individual dissertation in architectural design.

Bachelor of Architectural Technology

The Undergraduate Certificate in Construction Management provides an introduction to knowledge and skills required in the construction industry and gives the student entry (and credit for the four subjects completed) into the Bachelor of Applied Science (Construction Management) degree at Curtin. Design and Built Environment Research Methods

This subject was previously known as VIS18 Historical Issues in Art and Design.
This subject provides students with an introduction to some of the key ideas and events in the history of art and design. It is intended as a basic introduction to the history of ideas and the effects such ideas have had on the recent evolution of art and design. You will learn about the requirements for timber-framed and steel-framed residential construction, and gain knowledge of fire safety, energy efficiency, health, and amenity requirements for residential buildings. Additionally, the course addresses bushfire mitigation measures essential for the design and construction of residential buildings. Building Cultural Capability

In this subject, you are introduced to the broad concepts of health data and system development lifecyle (SDLC) and the purpose, scope, design and functionalities of health information systems. You will explore the theoretical concepts behind systems planning, analysis, design, implementation, evaluation, support and maintenance of the systems development lifecycle including issues that impact systems, data and information security. Through your assessments, you will demonstrate technical skills in systems planning, analysis and design phases of the SDLC by creating user stories and data flow diagrams as well as evaluating systems design. You will develop an understanding of how health professionals interact with the health information systems development lifecycle.

Health Information Systems Analysis and Design

This subject introduces students to sources of law affecting building projects (including the judicial system, common and statute law, contract law, torts and dispute resolution) in relation to the various types of contracts available for project delivery.
