This program has been created specifically for general practitioners who want to develop or advance their knowledge and skills in sports medicine. The program provides a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to prevention, treatment and management of sports injuries. Students will develop the clinical knowledge, research and practical skills for evidence-based practice in sports medicine. Students will be well placed to treat different types of exercising individuals (e.g. athletes and amateur sports people), and different types of injuries sustained during sporting activities and other physical activity (e.g. muscular injuries and lumbar region injuries).An understanding of the fundamental principles of sports medicine and its applications will serve as an important backdrop within a general practice setting.
