Leaders have recently had their assumptions challenged about how organisations succeed. Additionally, leaders are struggling to make sense of the shifting environment and learning how to lead the people in their companies effectively and successfully in the midst of turmoil. In this subject, you will examine key leadership theories and the current trends in responsible leadership across a range of workplace contexts. You will apply these theories to critically address these issues that are directly relevant to the current turbulent environment. In this subject, you will have the opportunity to examine, discuss and solve real-world leadership problems.

Leadership

Agribusiness describes the food and fibre production and marketing system, which is made up of thousands of businesses ranging from small farms to large multinational companies. A focus for this subject is the effective and efficient management of agribusinesses, which is strongly linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 12 - Responsible Production and Consumption.  In this subject you will be introduced to managers and the management of food, fibre and agribusiness firms. In doing so you will explore the concepts, processes, ideas, issues and experiences of managers and management that will enhance your effectiveness in performing the functions and tasks of an agribusiness manager.

Agribusiness Management

In this subject you will gain a comprehensive understanding of techniques and models applied in organisations to ensure sustainable competitive advantage. This involves application of key theories to decisions and actions taken by an organisation&#39;s senior management team to devise a long-term plan with the intention of developing the organisation&#39;s core competencies and increasing the organisation&#39;s competitiveness. Key topics in this subject include; understanding the dynamics of the internal and external environments, Value Chain Analysis, the 5 Forces Model, corporate level strategy, business level strategy, modes of entry into domestic and international markets, propensity to innovate and level of competition and corporate governance. The focus will be on developing your ability to understand, evaluate and effectively apply strategic management knowledge to modern organisations.

Strategic Management

This subject introduces you to the various concepts of Organisational Change and Development (OCD). Organisational change and development is concerned with the application of behavioural science knowledge and practice to help achieve greater organisational effectiveness. The focus of this subject is on enhancing the total organisational system within the content of the wider environment in order to enhance the organisation&#39;s capacity to achieve its goals. You will develop an understanding of the relevance of theories and principles that underlie the practice of organisational change and development in contemporary organisations.

Organisational Change and Development

This subject will develop and enhance your understanding and appreciation of how constant and/or evolutionary changes to the international business environment influence the operations and conduct of domestic and cross border For-Profit and Not for Profit enterprises. You will examine key strategic and structural drivers and tools that support globalization and the establishment of multi-national entities. You will be exposed to models, approaches and challenges of successful cross-cultural management, negotiations, communications, and knowledge transfer.

Managing Across Borders

In this subject, you will be introduced to a number of moral frameworks that you will use to analyse ethical issues for management. You will participate in an innovative and challenging learning experience/process via the completion of online activities and in-class assessment tasks. You will adopt relevant roles to participate in a high-level ethics and rights discussion and debate, considering issues relevant to organisations, global trade, advertising, the environment, politics, corruption and governance and the person as an individual. Working individually and in teams, within a collaborative learning environment, you will explore and analyse relevant literature to develop moral reasoning, in order to present an ethically based case to their peers and/or external parties.

Business Ethics

Organisational Behaviour will provide an introduction to individual characteristics, interpersonal relationships and group processes, as they relate to individual behaviour and outcomes in organisations. Organisational behaviour theory and concepts will be applied to current organisational problems relating to motivation, decision-making, teamwork, leadership and diversity. In this subject, you will develop the capabilities to work effectively in teams and lead teams to achieve their goals.

This foundational subject provides an introduction to the management discipline and an overview of the evolution of management theory, the fundamental management concepts and analyses issues relating to the management of firms operating in both the local and global environments. This subject explores management as a process of planning, organising, leading and controlling within the context of both individual effect and organisational outcomes. This subject also highlights threats and opportunities relating to economic changes, technological changes and the profound changes of how organisations are managed.

Foundations of Management

As disruption becomes increasingly common within businesses, this subject will enable you to apply the technical and business skills you have acquired to effectively lead and manage change within organisations. First, you will learn to create a business case for change and utilise soft skills to manage change, including the application of negotiation and influencing skills supported by data and analytics. You will learn about implementing technological change through the lens of data analytics, with a focus on staging changes to ensure success. You will also learn how change can be managed on an on-going basis to ensure long term returns on investment.

Leading Disruption

Management accounting provides organisational decision-makers relevant accounting information to assist with their planning, controlling and performance management. This subject develops students&#39; knowledge and skills relating to various management accounting principles and techniques used in contemporary organisations. Students will learn and apply budgeting, product and service costing, pricing, control and performance evaluation, and undertake evidence-based inquiry to critically analyse and solve real-world business problems.
