This course considers the global manager&#39;s environment including the functions of management and the skills required to operate in the dynamic business world of today. The course offers an introduction to major management concepts needed in global operations, such as organisational structure, systems, control mechanisms and talent management. It outlines pathways for global management career and highlights the prerequisite managerial skills, in particular communication, negotiations and teamwork in physical and virtual environments. All themes include cultural considerations, illustrated on examples from around the world, and introduce newly evolving trends. Students should not enrol in this subject if they have previously completed 2005IBA Comparative Management, 3004IBA Intercultural Management or 2129IBA International Management at Griffith University.

International Management

The subject serves as an introductory platform to business processes. It offers both conceptual and practical guidance for achieving competitive advantage by managing business processes. The Management of Business processes involves the deliberate and collaborative design, management and goal definition of end-to-end sets of activities that create value for customers.Key aspects of business processes at the management, operational and support level are investigated and supporting theories explored looking at the work of Taylor, Harmon, Davenport, Hammer and Porter to name some. By taking a holistic view of the organisation, that transcends vertical, horizontal, external and geographical boundaries, this unit provides a road map for guiding organisations to analyse, re-design and improve business processes. Finally, the effects of the application of Information Systems on business processes are investigated in terms of how the processes themselves are captured and become an integral part of the technology.Students should not enrol in this subject if they have completed 2128IBA The Management of Business Process at Griffith University

This course is aimed at final year undergraduate business students wishing to develop greater understanding of some of the complex strategic issues facing organisations today and in the future. In a marketplace where organisations are continually being disrupted through industry landscape change and technological innovation, strategic management can be the key to delivering a solid bottom line. As traditional sources of competitive advantage are being eroded, managing strategic change is becoming a crucial factor in the survival and performance of business organisations. As parts of this course, students will explore the following broad areas: the concepts and techniques of strategic position, strategic analysis and implementation at the business and corporate levels. Managing Strategic Change

This course requires writing and presenting a formal business plan for a new product or service, and develops the marketing-, operations-, human resource-, risk- and financial-management knowledge and skills required to start and operate a new business or social venture.Students should not enrol in this subject if they have completed 3045IBA Building the New Venture at Griffith University.

As a part of this course, you will explore ethical and sustainable business, by referring to the concepts and theories of business ethics and sustainability. You will be able to identity, analyse and resolve ethical, social and environmental issues impacting various stakeholders, such as employees, shareholders, customers, government and civil societies.
