This subject is the second of two Masters project subjects involving supervised independent research in/of a discipline-relevant topic. This subject focuses on the completion and presentation of the research commenced in HUMN600 Masters Research Project 1, and will be taken in the next available study period following that subject. The specific nature of the project, the methods of research and the submission format will be determined in consultation with a discipline supervisor and may include professionally orientated tasks or components. The focus in this subject is on the people, organisations and events involved in the acquisition, creation, selection and appraisal of archival collections over time. This subject was previously known as INFM120 Technologies for Information Services.Learn what is meant by big data, data science, data analytics and data-driven decision-making. This subject introduces students to the ways data can be used to answer questions, tell stories, and support strategic decision making in their discipline and professional area. Upon successful completion of the unit, students will have developed their knowledge and skills to become confident and critical users of big data tools and resources. The subject covers how to evaluate data sources, why it is important to ask questions about what is in data sets, who owns them, and what they don’t include. It will also provide students with an informed understanding of how they can capture and use data in an ethically and socially responsible manner. Telling Stories with Data

This subject explores the need for knowledge to be managed in an organisation, and the tools and strategies that can be used to effectively manage the knowledge assets of that organisation. The subject starts with the identification of knowledge assets in an organisation, followed by knowledge capture and codification in order for knowledge to be shared and integrated into the organisational level. The subject then explores topics on individual and organisational learning and how learning can be encouraged and facilitated. Obstacles to knowledge transfer are identified together with an examination of the role of organisational culture in facilitating knowledge sharing. The subject also explains the formation of knowledge management (KM) strategies and the need to have a KM team. Measurement of KM effectiveness and legal and ethical issues of KM are dealt with in the last two modules. The focus of the subject is on the maritime and logistics industry and the challenges and obstacles associated with knowledge management in such a globalised industry.

Knowledge Management

In this subject you will examine the development, implementation, and maintenance of health care systems and explore systems theory as it applies to health information systems. You will analyse the life cycle of a health information system, including strategic and tactical information, planning and project management, and the impact on the organisation of each phase of the life cycle. You will evaluate both technical (infrastructure, hardware &amp; software, Standards &amp; Codes) and people issues (education &amp; skill development, changes to roles) which need to be resolved in the process of implementing a successful health information system. You will also explore the role and impact of the informatics professional and the informatics/IT department within the health organisation.

Health Information Systems

This subject explores the evolution of the electronic health record (EHR). It examines the definition and context of the EHR, records management, the benefits and barriers of EHRs, the national health information agenda, the EHR as a socio-technical tool, ethical considerations, and the future of EHRs.
